From groundbreaking projects to long term partnership, year 2013 was full of surprises, transformations, good news, challenges, and more.
To celebrate the year that was, here’s a look back at some of our company’s highlights and accomplishments.
For the past years, we have been focused on growing our enterprise projects. When you look at our past — our history building Open Source technologies — and then look at the clientele we are serving today — you’ll see how we’ve transformed into technologists with a business orientation.
We understand that our role today is to serve the modern business by helping them understand how to use technology to optimize their business opportunities.
And so this year, we have cultivated more software projects in markets, such as Healthcare, Finance and Banking, and Retail.
Look at how we’ve helped The Medical City develop a clinical information system based on open standards and aligned it to the hospital’s IT roadmap’s goal of improving electronic medical record (EMR) adoption.
Our revenue for 2013 increased by around 25% from 2012 with better than expected gross margins.
“We ended fiscal year 2013 on a strong note with a solid balance sheet upon which to build our business going forward,” said Jerry, CEO of Exist.
The software services industry has become totally commoditized and crowded. But how did we achieve our goals? For the most part, it was about delivering the solutions we committed to our clients.
We don’t just build software. We create innovative solutions that transform the way our customers do their businesses.
“We cut costs and doubled productivity by moving our development to Exist. They have provided great partnership and are always willing to fine tune their processes to fit with the way we operate,” said Damian Grace, Co-Founder of PhriendlyPhishing.
EXPANDING INDUSTRY SECTORS AND REGIONS
Looking at our performance across industry sectors, healthcare services continue to grow due to our years of experience in delivering enterprise software for this sector and our ability to help them improve the cost and effectiveness of patient care.
Our financial services business segment serves leading financial institutions throughout the world. We’re working together with clients across the banking and financial services industry to develop their digital strategies and introduce new, innovative products and services, enabling them to drive business growth. Financial sector revenues increased significantly, driven by regulatory and economic pressures, complex global operations and competitive marketplace changes facing this industry.
Leading telco providers in Asia Pacific work with us in rolling out their enterprise portals, payment solutions and new software solutions.
We also expanded into new market such as retail. Demand in the retail industry is being driven by the need for greater cost efficiency, the desire to optimize global supply chains and the evolution of omni-channel models. For example, we are currently working with a multinational retailer to develop a solution to streamline their business processes, cut costs and increase productivity.
The demand in other industries such as software and technology remains strong, as the need to save costs while accelerating innovation is critical.
Exist continues to achieve double digit growth year on year for the past three years and in 2013 has expanded aggressively in Asia.
While many of the world’s economies remain under pressure, our recognized ability to deliver innovative solutions has led to growth across all of our regions. Asian market enjoyed increased in revenue versus the prior year, and remains the largest component of our business.
Despite continued economic challenges in US, our revenue in the US slightly grew.
We have also built a substantial client base in Australia and is now becoming a more important part of our business.
NEW OFFERING – BIG DATA SOLUTIONS
Mid of this year, Exist teams with Cloudera, a leading provider of Apache Hadoop-based software and services, to help organizations derive value from their data. This new offering enables enterprises to implement big data solution using the Hadoop platform.
“Our goal is to enable our enterprise partners to maximize the business value of their data by helping them consolidate their data environments and efficiently roll-out innovative data management solutions and practices,” said Jerry.
Exist together with Computerworld Philippines, also organized a Big Data Forum which was attended by more than 100 executives who networked, exchanged best practices, and learned the potential benefits of Big Data in their organizations.
GROWING ENTERPRISE JAVA MARKET
Over the year, Exist has grown its enterprise Java portfolio serving different verticals such as healthcare, finance and banking, retail, transportation, telecoms and software and technology.
We have completed several software projects and applications for various healthcare providers, clinical and otherwise, such as a Hospital Information System and an Electronic Medical Record system.
We also have deployed many business-critical web applications for production processes, automation solutions and system integrations such as software and release management solution, logistics management software, business portals, payment platforms, time-capture and time-keeping solutions, project management application, and content management systems.
Most recently, we were commissioned to work on banking solutions, payment services, VMS / vendor management system, CRM / customer relationship management software, and Point of Sale / POS system projects for our telecom and retail clients.
COLLABORATION WITH LEADING INDUSTRY ORGANIZATIONS
Exist prides itself on affiliations with industry organizations that promote software industry, strengthen community partnerships and contribute to economic development.
We’ve been a proud member of the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA), the premiere organization of some 160 software companies in the Philippines, for almost eight years.
We collaborate with industry associations and the community including Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), Developers Connect Philippines (DevCon), Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (CEDF-IT) and US-Philippines Business Support & IT Delivery Council.
Recently, Exist has joined Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF), Singapore infocomm industry association and American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (AmCham Philippines), a premier business organization that promotes US-Philippine relations, as we look to accelerate growth and further broaden our current market in the APAC and US.
“The collaboration with these organizations allows us to connect with industry leaders while contributing to IT-BPO development,” said Jerry.
Looking forward, Exist will continue to push the boundaries of technology to help our customers seize the next-generation of business-driven IT solutions. Focused on a collaborative value creation strategy, we will challenge ourselves to aim higher, go further and achieve more.
