Manila, Philippines November 6, 2006 – Exist Software Engineering bagged the ZDNet Asia Top 10 TechnoVisionaries Award for 2006. This award, which is on its inaugural year, was launched by ZDNet Asia to recognize the most promising homegrown tech startups and technopreneurs in Asia.
Companies from 10 Asian countries, including powerhouses China, India and Singapore, went through a rigid judging process. To qualify, the nominee company must have products or services that are targeted at businesses, must not be publicly listed and must be headquartered or conducts its principal R&D activities in Asia.
On its 6th year, Exist has become a premiere global Smartsourcing company. It has built this strategy of providing world-class technical skills to Global IT companies by harnessing its pool of global talents, leveraging the open source community and enabling its engineering teams through technology. This year, it successfully launched e-DEN, a hosted Software as a Service (SaaS) platform which provides a secured infrastructure for an efficient joint development process between the client and Exist, maximizing the company’s market tested rapid engineering, quality assurance and technical support services.
Exist was founded by Winston Damarillo, a proven, serial entrepreneur with a track record of building successful technology start-ups, including being a CEO at Gluecode Software, recently bought by IBM, and currently CEO at Simula Labs, the first company designed to provide operational and entrepreneurial expertise and capital to emerging open source companies.
With the help of his college friends, Junnie Arreza, Willex Perez and Vince Ortega, from De La Salle University in Manila, Exist grew from a start up of 6 employees to a global IT company of more than 100 employees serving the North American and European market.
It has been a great 5th year for the company, as it has reached major inlays to gaining its objective of being the idea factory of the world with back-to-back product releases like e-DEN and soon, a bug-tracking application, called Tarsier. Exist’s vision is to be in touch with global technological ideas and make it a reality in a very short time frame.
“We will continue to launch projects that will jump start technopreneurship in the Philippines that targets the global market,” says Damarillo. He aims to launch Exist Labs, a Philippine-based incubator that aims to attract the best ideas and talent from the world to develop their technologies in the Philippines.
