Last May 2014, we, together with Goldcrest Communications and the event’s chairman, Dr. Mike Muin, organized the inaugural Healthcare IT Philippines Conference. It was well attended with more than 100 participants including health IT leaders, clinician stakeholders and project implementers.

With the interest in healthcare IT growing not only in the Philippines but all over Asia Pacific, I thought I’d put together a list of the top healthcare technology events and conferences in APAC. The list covers the various Health IT conferences and events we have attended and plan to attend next year.

HIMMS Asia Pacific – This is probably the most popular and biggest health IT user conference not only in Asia but around the world, bringing together over 2,000 healthcare IT leaders in Asia Pacific. It is a conference and exhibition on healthcare and technology organized by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. Last May and June of this year, HIMMS conducted an mHealth forum in Australia and eHealth forum in Taiwan, respectively. Meanwhile, Singapore Minister for Health will open this year’s HIMSS AsiaPac 2014 on September 15-18. *One of our colleagues was able to attend this event last year and had a great learning experience.

Healthcare IT Innovation Summit – It’s a two day regional summit that gathers stakeholders in healthcare IT implementation to address the issues and challenges during the implementation process and seek strategies in clinical work process designs. They also have a series of regional roadshows which is held in 7 cities across Asia including Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Bangkok, Manila, Taipei, Shanghai and Beijing. *Exist has been an exhibitor, both in the two-day summit and its Manila leg, for the past two years.

Health care in Asia Summit – Organized by the Economist, Health care in Asia summit brings together more than 180 of Asia’s leading health ministers and officials, alongside industry figures, policymakers, private-sector providers and front-line medical professionals. Its 6th Health care in Asia Summit is scheduled to take place in March of 2015 in Hong Kong.

Healthcare World Asia – Positioned as the gathering point for Asia’s Healthcare industry especially for ASEAN. This event is an unrivalled platform to expose the most pressing issues faced by the various stages of development in Asia’s healthcare industry. It’s a comprehensive event that features conference and exhibition, focus group discussions, networking and two-day workshops, but comes with a hefty $5K SGD price tag.

APAC Forum – The APAC Forum is Asia Pacific’s premier healthcare conference, managed by Ko Awatea, the centre for health system innovation and improvement at Auckland’s Counties Manukau District Health Board. It features top notch speakers and healthcare experts and very well supported by Victoria’s Department of Health. After a two year success in Auckland, the 3rd APAC Forum will be held in Melbourne on September 1-3, 2014.

Electronic Health Records Conference – IBC’s Annual EHR Conference is the meeting place for professionals in both public and private healthcare hospitals, research institutes, pharmaceuticals and industry to hear leading initiatives to implement EHR in Southeast Asia.

I’m sure there’s a lot of other interesting healthcare IT events in Asia, so we’ll keep updating this page with the latest Healthcare IT and EHR events. What other healthcare technology events would you include in this list? Feel free to share your thoughts below.

By the way, due to high requests, we’re planning to conduct a provincial roadshow of our Healthcare IT Philippines Conference next year, so stay tuned.
