An iPad app for this, an iPad app for that. But vertical-wise, as Apple clearly knows, medicine and healthcare is where iPad's bright future is at.
"More than half of European (and 60% of US) consumers who download apps at least monthly also access the Internet via their mobile phones at least daily. In short, heavy app users are also heavy mobile Web users," Forrester said.
In the Philippines, iPad users pay more for games but enterprise users are not too far behind.
It isn't a surprise to find out that Angry Birds tops the list of paid apps while checking the country's iTunes store last week considering that with games, we're really no different from the rest of the world. What is surprising though is that overall - top grossing of all time, there were more people who bought Productivity apps over Angry Birds. WE love that!
As the mobile application market flourishes, the challenge among designers and developers to deliver compelling mobile experiences gets tougher. Building iOS apps is a lot of work: from the great idea to prototyping, to creating graphic elements, writing software and testing to name a few. Yet, personally I think one of the most essential thing to be successful in iOS or mobile development in general is having a great graphic design and user experience (UX).
It's been really exciting to find out that a lot of opportunities have opened up with the increasing demand for mobile app development, particularly iPhone development and Android development. What I'd like to share in this post is the birth of online marketplaces -- aiming to connect app developers and "publishers" together.
We stumbled on some of these marketplaces and I thought I'd share my 2 cents:
It was recently was reported that Apple had passed the 10 billion App Store download mark. Gartner also forecasts that app downloads will explode in coming years, reaching 185 billion from all app markets by the end of 2014.
Me? I'm downloading 2-5 apps a day. Late boomer that I am, I just made my first paid download last weekend.
